PRAACHI RAANIWALA: THE EASE OF INTENTION
In conversation with Praachi Raniwala on finding pockets of stillness amidst the bustle, quiet luxury, and living stylishly on her own terms
As a fashion and lifestyle journalist, brand consultant, and now co-founder of a floral venture, Praachi wears many hats—and makes it all look effortless! But behind the ease is a deep commitment to living thoughtfully and still carving out time for what matters most. Over the years, she’s built a signature aesthetic that’s stylish, intentional, and refreshingly real. In this special ‘Little Things’ feature, we spend an afternoon at The Kin Hotel, offering insight into everything from the art of self-reflection to navigating Bombay’s humidity.Q. You lead a multifaceted life as a journalist, brand consultant, and now a co-founder of a floral venture. What do the “in-between” moments look like for you?
Praachi: There is no fixed routine, and some weeks can be busier than I’d like them to be. But that’s just life! What helps is to find pockets of me-time—it could be waking up earlier than usual for some time to reflect before the madness of the day takes over, a walk outdoors, listening to some chants or new music, lying in bed doing absolutely nothing… whatever the day and mood call for.
But some time to reflect is very important, whenever I can in the day: to meditate, breathe, and sit with myself. I like to book myself a sound bath whenever I can. I really want to learn to play the handpan, I’ve been looking for a teacher!
Q. How do you define mindful living in your terms? How has this understanding changed over the years?
Praachi: I’ve come to realise that it’s important to fully be in any given moment, even if it’s not your ideal case scenario. Acknowledge it, be in it, even if it’s uncomfortable. And live it with intention. These are things I’ve only really understood in recent years. It’s not just about chasing that proverbial light at the end of the tunnel, you’ll miss the whole ride in doing so.

Q. How does space contribute to your creative flow?
Praachi: It’s so important! A beautiful space really does inspire. At home, I’ve created a cosy, little writing nook, with a giant acrylic calendar, books, and knick-knacks I collect on my travels. Otherwise, you’ll find me on the rooftop of Soho House Mumbai, buried in my keyboard. My latest discovery is the charming boutique hotel The Kin, run by the most fun sibling duo—so serene and design-forward (where we were lucky enough to shoot this series), I could check in and never leave…
Q. As someone who engages with the visual world every day, how do you balance your aesthetic with slow, intentional choices—whether in fashion, travel, or even the pace of life?
Praachi: After a point, you stop obsessing over checking everything off your list. You realise you don’t need to hit every ‘must-visit’ bar on your travels, be at every cool party, or own every handbag on your wishlist. I’ve learnt to strip away the excess where I can. With fashion, buying things I can use multiple times, and in multiple ways, is of utmost importance to me. I like to think through my purchases, and give in to pieces with lasting quality. In life, learning to say no is so powerful—that way, you have more time for the people and things that actually matter.
Q. Dressing for Bombay’s intemperate summer can’t be easy! What’s your approach?
Praachi: Just don’t leave the house? Kidding! Park the denims, and bring out the breezy dresses and shorts. Breathable fabrics are truly the only way to survive our unforgiving summer. Oh, and hair pulled in a bun, more often than not.
Q. Take us through a typical day in your life. If you could freeze one quiet moment from your day to keep returning to, what would it be?
Praachi: I start my day early and keep the first 30 minutes free of any devices/screens. A quiet and early start makes me feel invincible. I write best in the morning, so the day of a big deadline is dedicated to that. A home-cooked lunch is ideal, and I try to schedule calls and meetings post that. But honestly, no two days are the same, especially when you’re in the business of being a freelancer. So we go where the day takes us. Workouts are important, cardio or Pilates—and this could be morning or evening, depending on what the rest of my day is looking like. I go to a wonderful gym that overlooks the beach, so that really centres me. I am not proud of this, but some doomscrolling does ensue before bedtime… it is what it is!
Q. What about Buna do you resonate with the most?
Praachi: The focus on fabric and quality, for one. And the intentional ease of every print and silhouette, there’s something so welcoming and warm about it. Like the perfect Sunday morning.Prachi is wearing the Glimmer of Joy Tier Dress
